We thought it would be fun to get to know a little bit more about our Anthology Artists. Here's the "Quick Six" Q&A with Spencer Fox, lead guitarist for Charly Bliss:
-
First concert you attended?
I believe it was Foo Fighters and Weezer when I was in 7th grade. Years later I would find out that Chary Bliss’ own Sam Hendricks was at that very same concert.
-
How old were you when you started playing the guitar?
Ten years old! I was 4’ 3” and fat and my chubby little ravioli hand could barely fit around the neck. I have come a long way.
-
Venue you would love to play at (or a dream venue that you have already played at)?
As a born and raised New Yorker, I have no choice but to say Madison Square Garden. It’s in my blood. I think my favorite venue in the country has got to be the 930 Club (Washington, D.C.). There’s nothing like it. Bowery Ballroom (New York) is a very close second.
-
Artist or song you are into most right now?
I’ve been digging into This Is Lorelei’s back catalog and it’s all so goofy and awesome. I love when an artist has an extensive body of work that you can comb through and trace the development of certain songwriting nuances. His music is so awesome. Also a lot of Arthur Russell gets played every fall.
-
Do you have any pre-show rituals or superstitions?
Shot of tequila with the band and say that I have to go pee but never actually go pee and ultimately realize that I do not in fact have to go pee but still panic about needing to pee.
-
Who has inspired you most as a musician?
My bandmates, unequivocally.
