Jamey Perrenot Q&A

Quick Six with Jamey Perrenot

Check out the "Quick Six" Q&A with Anthology Artist Jamey Perrenot

We thought it would be fun to get to know a little bit more about our Anthology Artists so we've asked them to participate in a Q&A. Here's the "Quick Six" with Anthology Artist guitarist/producer/writer Jamey Perrenot who has credits ranging from Leann Rimes to Taylor Swift:

1. First concert you attended?
I think it was the Texas Jam… It was 1979, I was 13 years old. I had saved some allowance and bought 2 tickets, not telling my parents. On the day of the concert, the kid that I was going to ride with was suddenly not allowed to go. Ha. I think he had not told his parents either and had been found out. I scrambled around and somehow convinced a college age friend of my older sister to take me. We got there very late but managed to see Van Halen, Boston and Heart. It’s very cliche to say this now, but it changed my life.

2. How old were you when you started playing the guitar?
I don’t remember NOT playing guitar. There was an old guitar around my house and I was always messing with it, eventually figuring out how to make it make music.

3. Venue you would love to play at or favorite venue that you have already played at?
Out of all the stuff I’ve gotten to do, I’ve never played the Ryman. Nor Redrocks. Would love to experience both of those. Otherwise, I’d love to do a stint in Paris in a headlining band.

4. Artist or song you are into most right now?
Kalamity Kills, Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler Childers.

5. Do you have any pre-show rituals or superstitions?
No… I just try to relax and get into a state of flow… A shot of Jaeger helps a little.

6. Who has inspired you most as a musician?
My first musical love was The Beatles. Another cliche, but completely true. Paul McCartney probably had more affect on my life choices than my own parents. After that, Eddie Van Halen. The producer that really made me want to BE a producer was John Leventhal. I studied his production on the Shawn Colvin records for years.
